Apollo Tyres, in association with Manchester United, opened India’s first “Go the Distance” soccer field in Powai, Mumbai. Satish Sharma, president of Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa for Apollo, and Bryan Robson, former captain of Manchester United, inaugurated the pitch by kicking the first soccer ball.

Made 100% of recycled rubber, the Go the Distance field is designed for the local community to test out and hone their soccer skills, the tiremaker said.

“Apollo Tyres as a company is committed to sustainability. This pitch in Mumbai, and the Go the Distance playgrounds in Chennai, created using end-of-life tires, in addition to our increased focus on tire retreading, is a proof of our commitment towards the cause,” Sharma said. “This Go the Distance pitch will also be available to the youth from the local communities to test out and hone their football skills.”
